Surf Report

The surf looked a bit messy this morning, with waves in the waist-high to chest-high range. Wind conditions were fairly sloppy, with Zancudo winds coming out of the north this morning before building steadily out of the southwest. The winds continued to increase as the day progressed. There were some shifty peaks at the river mouth sandbars on the dropping tide, but otherwise it was not that good. The Rio Claro was acting more like a beach break than a point today, as several combined wind swells made for short, peaky lefts and rights.

Weather

It’s another beautiful day here in Pavones, Costa Rica. The weather was mostly cloudy, with some intermittent rain showing up at first light and another burst before noon. Otherwise, it was a bit cooler today due to the cloud cover. We had Zancudo winds all morning, switching to the southwesterlies by about 10 AM. There’s a strong likelihood of more rain later this evening.
